Single Serving Friend

I met this peculiar young man on my way to Puerto Rico last week...

To see him once but never again.
Friendly smile and shining eyes.
My two and a half hour best friend.
And I don’t even know his name.

My single serving friend.

Looming over turquoise waters of the Caribbean.
Listening to this charming English fellow.
My frayed nerves for flying were eased by his voice.
Controlling my concentration only on him and nothing else.

My single serving friend.

He walked me out making sure I was safe.
Told me not to worry.
And that everything would be okay.

My single serving friend

I never got a chance to thank him.
For I turned to see him walk away,
Only to find him gone.
But I think he knew anyway.
Or maybe it was just Joe,
Coming out to play again.

My single serving friend.

Mariah..

This is a great way to recognize a friend who stops by for a moment in your life. You gave it enrichment and respect. I hope he gets to read it someday.
