The Dragon Hath Set Me Free

I once let the light shine in

Through the windows to my soul,

That is, until one day, thy led me astray.

Devastation took hold, dragged me down

Into the depths of Hell.  Fire ate me, these

Deep burns upon mine flesh are

What is left of me, after thou hath

Shadowed away from me.  Yet, miss thee

I do, from some place drowned.  Let

Not time fade the wounds of Love,

For they are battle scars to be cared for,

Tenderly and gently, cultivated until

One day, the light doth shine once more.

A fateful afternoon holds the truth in Love.

Finding its way back into this heart o’ mine,

Stone cold from lost Love.  Thy light shone

In so bright, blinding even, as I must shield mine

Eyes from such a glorious sight!  Picked me up,

Thy hath done, from this barren land I call mine

Own heart.  Breathed life back into this soul,

Thy have!  A feat that may never happen ever again,

If I should ever fall once more, to the murky

Depths of unrequited love’s dungeon.

We all have dragons to over power. We fight them daily and eventually we win. Great write, thought provoking. ~SH~
