Knifeís Edge

Dear, sweet blade, shining beneath

The light so lovely.  Come hither,

Lay within mine hand so that I might

Feel the coldness of thy touch against

Mine skin.

Dear, sweet blade, smiling back at me

With a glint of passion that calls out

Mine name.  Make love to this flesh

That encases mine soul, bring forth

Fresh rivulets of red that will pool

Upon the floor.

Dear, sweet blade, plunge into me,

Deeply, like a man to a woman.  Let

Me feel thy steel inching into mine skin

So swiftly.  Sharp is thee!  Ease into

Me, let me bleed so that I might live

To see some other life, beyond this

Hell I know now.

My time here is done, over, no longer

Can I be.  There is nothing left of

What I once was, just this empty

Shell thatís grown hideous with decay.

Reviewed by Adam Walsvik (Reader)
I was hospitalized once for three months and I once hid a blade from a pencil sharpener in a lego structure in anticipation of a time when I could cut myself in a meaningful way. The eventual elation of cutting myself open was replaced by a feeling of emptiness. They locked me in an isolation room where I delighted in removing my stitches with my teeth.
