Drought-had-it August re-invents cardboard. . .

Drought-had-it August re-invents cardboard
only to end up boxed in pride
keeps her pounding out laughs
100% genuine, water-free tears. New hobby:
Let’s all stand around and watch paste dry.
Peppered hardtack the Flavor of the Month. Cool.
Anyone know how to get a tongue off a roof?

Know the girl knows she robbed herself
of steam by not stocking up on liquids.
Retaining them when she had the chance.
Pool here, puddle there, adds up.
But Sol growls, Hon’, ain’ none of us gon’ move back
with Spring. Forget how much green
she doles. Threads style, but they choke
anyone thinks about wrestling with April.
(Guess who guzzled the Good Stuff.)

Plotting with her last drop of moisture,
Our hero bleaches her hair and slathers blush
wrinkles turn out to love. Sweat-scented talc
only good for drawing a map on the mirror
to some Viva Las Vegas where September’s smooth
and svelt. (Winter will ermine throat to stilletto.)
Fantasy strings out. All y’do is hit Drive,
Age’s unoiled axles reverse. Pray
nothing freezes, overheats, or gains 30 pounds.
Too bad Seasons can read gauges. (And I.)
Frustration, tired of stalling, waylays a cloud
looks like it can squeeze out a tear:

Hello Phyllis,
This is so good.
