i'm just an old timer
an old ryhmer
a sooth sayer
just an old prayer
a' prayer's
an old man whos' been there's

a layer of lies
of words gone bye
of words that come & go
never let it show
a questionaire
left hangin' in the air
wonderin' where it went
when those words were spent
how it got all bent
outta' shape
back then was it just an old tape?
outta' shape, outta' line
a fine line
twixt' the truth & the lie
twixt' hello & good-bye

'tween ?'s & lyin'
'tween livin & dyin'
tween the sound
& the lyin' down

just an old timer

an old ryhmer
a passin byer
a sooth sayer
a man without a prayer

without a prayer
without bein' there
got no word's ta' say what i mean
got old memories
make me lean
got no gotta'
but i boughta' what i oughta'
now i be on the run
runnin' away
what can i say

i just be an old fool
an old timer
an old rhymer
with only time
on his hands
an old man
who stands around
& sings the blues
an old timer
who know the true s
& the lies
a' time passin' bye

one more win
one more loss
payin' the cost
a bein' lost
in his old time
in his old rhyme
just an old timer

just a fool
an old ryhmer
playin' it cool

Great write. Reminds of me "Old Five and Dimers" by Billy Joe Shaver (I believe was his name)

Aaaaahhhhh Steve! There's nothing more fun than acting like a fool sometimes; just to make you appear wiser when you really wanted to act wise.

Love this write! Hope all is well with you.
