We walk along the densely wooded trail dappled with the shadows of sunlight and shade. There is a soft carpet of pine needles and new fallen leaves beneath our feet.
We stop, and the quiet forest gently soothes us. You take my hand and in the stillness of this place, we become one with all that God has created.
We blend in perfect harmony with this natural beauty that surrounds us.
Soulmates; both with each other and with the whispering pines and the gurgling stream that rushes over the moss covered rocks.

We have found an elusive treasure amidst this world of materialism.
Here, on this soft, quiet path, beneath the shelter of the forest, we have found peace and contentment in a richness beyond measure.

I was inspired to write this after a walk with my husband in the Kiamichi Mountains of eastern Oklahoma.
