Forced into the black darkness
So that there’s no way I can see light
Being held back from being shown
From being taught the truth and what’s right
Locked up in a cramped cage
Hidden away from the rest of the Earth
Gagged and tied up mentally
To prevent from telling all I’ve learnt since birth
Hiding under a suffocating shroud
Not being able to escape or even breath
Scared of letting my emotions loose
Or telling everyone all the things I believe
Trapped behind a heavy curtain
Being forced into the background viciously
Being restrained so tightly
To prevent me from being the real me
Living under a dark shadow
Black and heavy and thick with fear
Of being judged so unfairly
On how I act, think and appear
Fed up of being held back
Fed up of being shackled in the dark
Frustrated of being held back
Frustrated at being unable to speak my heart
Wanting to break free
To feel the wind drift through my hair
To feel the sun on my face
And to know what it’s like to openly care
Wanting to be released
Wanting to shed the shackles and be free
Wanting to be truly loved
And be able to just simply act like me.
