Can’t keep my hands from shaking
while holding my breath
it’s calamity swirling
a slow kind of death.

Round and round in my head
fighting for just one day
when serenity banishes
sorrows away.

Before reason has left me
with time standing still
it’s a battle that rages
my spirit to kill.

Cataclysmic it dances
the words that you said…
to the rhythms of madness
a song for the dead.

Falling softly upon me
caress of deceit…
carving heart into pieces
‘till soul is deplete.

Yet I’ll never embrace it
the truth won’t allow…
for I’ll not trade my soul
for the sake of a vow.

Although shaken and damaged
I’ll heal just the same…
while you live with yourself
and your burden of shame.

So, one promise I’ll make you
one promise that’s true …
in the end you’ll be empty
with no one but you.
