I remember years ago
When you were the boy
Immature for your age
But just right for me
You and your drugs
Your confusion
Your obsession with sex
Me with my sadness
My wanting to be older
My loneliness
Even in your state
You could serenade my soul
And chase away my demons
We grew apart as we matured
Needing space to grow
And now I look at you
The man you have become
Your long hair is gone
But I see your sadness
Your loneliness
Have you become my past form?
You can still put my heart at ease
Even though you donít know me at all
Itís kind of funny
I remember being in love with the child
But as I look into your eyes
Two blue orbs that show me everything you are
Your dreams
Your world
I realize
Iím no longer in love with your immaturity
But with the man you have become
If you never hear my voice
I want you to know
Iíll carry you forever within my soul
But grab my hand
And let me caress you
Be the child
Be the man
I donít care
Just please
Be mine
