~ Shadow of Love ~

I've fallen in and out of love,
A million times with you.
Each ending seemed so final,
Each beginning felt so new.

And though the warmth of your sweet touch,
May diminish for a while,
Like the quiet snow in winter,
Comes your old familiar smile.

Warming places in my heart,
No other's ever touched.
Loving you the way I did,
Then hating you as much.

So often I find myself thinking of you,
Scattered fragments of you and me years.
From the time we two were lovers,
To the time we two faultered...My Dear.

I wander down the memory lane,
Just to take a look about.
Thoughts of you are always there,
Fueling my heart's only doubt.

We both knew it was over,
When our lives drifted apart.
But you left behind, a shadow of love,
Shading the way to my heart.

I've read this twice... there's layers here... and speaks also of choices, living with the results. As to the writing of it, most excellent, especially in the way you've explored your concept in this form..
