and what do you do
thirty-three
when the day's said
and done
working retail
or some chi-chi bar
do you retreat to your room
to roll cigarettes
and wail on a guitar
to produce sounds
you wish a woman would make
then write it down
to reminiss
some years later

he was friends with a
friend i'd met
some six years prior
he showed promise
and proffered more
hope than i'd seen
from the likes of others,
that aloof, elusive presence
which thought nothing more of
me than to say he thought me
pretty
enough hot and then cold and then
hot and then cold
i've quit the fight--
i had no real contender...

I swore I'd never do this: But actually! Me? As in " Personally": (I wouldn't wanna be anything other) I roll cigarettes and think of you. But that's neither here nor there. See?: Geography's just as esoteric. But your half right. I have a stone to grind. It's my heart. But for you, yet again another fine "write." For me? So much for oaths.

miss you
