An adventure in fur and leather.

The night was cool
the night air sweet;
the Renegade Hamsters were out on the street,
twitching their noses, gnashing their teeth,
they were fluff on the surface
and rough underneath.

They had knives
and long, sharp claws;
fingerless gauntlets on their paws,
snakeskin boots, earrings and chains,
they had scrawny bodies
and brawny brains.

Big Fluffy pushed
his luck that night;
the Renegade Hamsters got into a fight,
with Bastard Badger, the Gerbils of Sin,
the Rollicking Rats
and the Cat From The Bin.

The street was a blur
of teeth and eyes;
their squeaking echoed to the skies.
Windows opened all around
in outrage
at the rowdy sound...

Then came alsatians
Bob and Buz;
Big Fluffy screamed out "It's the Fuz!"
and all the Gerbils ran away,
the Cat got
on his knees to pray,

The Badger showed
his yellow streak
and shot down a hole with a strangled squeak,
the Rollicking Rats left the trouble zone.
Big Fluffy
faced the Fuz alone...

Bob and Baz
gave a wolfish leer,
panting far too loud to hear
the other Renegade Hamsters creep
to save Big Fluffy
from trouble deep;

Neither did
they scent the smell
of our wayward rodents sent from Hell
- until they felt their vicious jaws
and the tearing of
relentless claws.

Until the Fuz
became the Splat
(and not a pretty sight, at that)
then the Renegade Hamsters raised a cheer
and scampered off for a skinful of beer.

The End.

So adorable!

Great chidren's poetry.

AND great adults' poetry (if you can "read between the lines", though of course it isn't necessary!)

I love it!

Really, this reminds me of a children's poem in the vein of "The Cow Jumped Over
The Moon". Nicely done at any rate. Thanks for always being there. :)
