Wishing that the end is not real And wondering how your heart will ever heal You look up through the star lit sky To a time when you had no reason to cry. Perhaps it is your child’s first birthday Or a lust filled kiss that left your hair in disarray. So many happy memories encircling life’s nexus. When suddenly the truth hits you in your solar plexus. Sadness upon sadness, with bitterness on top Always thinking the last shoe has finally dropped. The air becomes pungent with your turmoil. Violently you search everywhere for a place to recoil. In disbelief, you take a deep breath And wrap yourself in your little bit of life’s wealth. Cautiously you step into the unknown As your heart dials another time zone.
