A decade and half since your last word
too many years without your wisdom heard
only my head now hears your sound
how better my life if you were around

Ten years past I split from a wife
hurt so bad it near cost me my life
how many times I wished you there
to make that loss a bit easier to bear

Four good kids grown up since that day
they remember you with love they still say
though with me and their mother they grew
their goodness is nine parts you

Half way through a child was born
and for that girl my heart was sworn
that momentous day only made sad
for you missing me becoming a granddad

This last year again I was to love and lose
though you'd have adored her I did choose
you would have known just how I feel
some helpful ways my heart could heal

It is with passion that you I so miss
my memories of you are always so bliss
Please do not think of my thoughts so glum
I am simply remembering my wonderful Mum
