Written July 17, 1981 because of the pervasive sense of loss.

Every thing is was.
Nothing is is.

Has been said,
Every thing is is.
What was was.
What is to be is to be.
Every thing is is.

But I say
Every thing is was.
Nothing is is.
Doubt is to be.

I have been in this place of loss...where nothing makes sense and where present time ceases to exist in my mind (at least in my dreams), and I wonder... why is it that others can go on living as if... as if nothing had changed in my life. But the land of "was" is a lonely place to be...

This leaves the reader pondering and thinking... ...Thank you, Rosemarie. Love and peace to you,

:) One of my favorite types of poems, ethereal logic 'being' reality. I understand these completely, and the loss, though palpable, is also, it seems to me, a gain, mentally reconfiguring a mind. Enjoyed, Rosemarie.

It has been said, It is a fearful thing to love what death can touch.
I don't what was lost here but the effect was obviously profound.
