Take me to the edge of the world
to sit on a dune with my feet in
the sand and watch one puffy
cloud stretch it’s hand out to
play tag with the sun

I’ll climb the rocks that jut in and out
while in a boat, hoards of tourists with
their binoculars and cameras around
their necks in position hoping that
they’ll spot a whale

They wave, and I wave back

If I were a whale, I’d lie on my side
and spray them with water from
my blowhole to the tune of “Whatcha
lookin’ at”

I love the taste of the salty mist in the
air as the gentle waves flap against
the rocks in sync with the dock bell

I love watching the ocean chase the
sand by tip-toeing in and out; teasing
it with it’s shimmering sequence

Oh…here right now I feel myself settling
into a peaceful trance

I hear the dock bell slowly fade to a
light dong while I enjoy the quiet
company of my solitude
