San Francisco National Seashore

Gentle grey mist
Conceals the horizon.
Silver green swells,
greet the mist
as if kissed
in darkening frills.

Little waves meet
the coarse dark sand--
dashing surfers' chances
and seagulls' feet.

Runners toil
and walkers fade away
as a chill wind spoils
the sun's rays.
