While looking at the news, seeing all
the suffering
it made me aware of my roof overhead
I thought why can't I, raise my hands
to God
but do the opposite, and compain instead

Children drinking, out of muddy
water holes
with no shoes on their feets
and may not even, have a bank account
to buy good food to eat

There were mothers carrying their
on their backs as they made their way
no cars to drive, as I watched the crowd
all this happening, in just one day

They were carrying large bundles
upon their heads
savaging what little, they could take
They had to leave behind, their memories
and flee, for their life's sake

No place to go their only home blown up
yet we grumble and fail to thank God
For even having a glass and cup
and still able to go outside

There's no safety for them, always on
the run
their children are made to go to war
Not yet men, but carrying a weapon
traveling, not near but far

Why do we grumble with our few troubles
and when delivered, we do the worse
Rob and steal, from our next door
and soon fall, back under the curse

Yes we have suffering right here in
there is hunger and killing here too
Every crime you can name is on the brink
but some how we live it through

We only raise the flags when all is well
but still to God we turn our backs
It's only when trouble hits, we cry
to him
then our prayers goes up in stacks

Sometimes we take our freedom for
and I do wonder, if it's in our hearts
Or is it only, a formality
that's over as soon as it starts

Why is it so hard to thank God above
that our country is blessed so much
Why do we take advantage, of his
grace and mercy
and use him only, for a crutch

I'm a shame of my crying I do at times
when I see families of other countries
suffer so
and I ask myself, what's wrong with you
is it something I fail to know

I'm living in a country free to come
and go
have a choice to buy, sell or own
I have tv's, cable, video's, you name it
and even, that nice telephone

Just about everything, is at my beck
and call
so many things at my hands touch
We have so many, outdoor recreations
oh my heart, it has so much

These are some of the things that
made me-
to stop and take a closer look
and try to be a little more thankful
yes, to me, "the news had shook"
