Dry Anticipation

Sitting crouched over
the screen waiting
for your fix.

Dropping a line on me
the same time
twice a week.

I wait for your gentle
thought to reach me
and tell me that I have
a shot at this, that I
haven't just been pissing
my time away, that you will
choose me tonight.

It's 10:30
Where are you?

Where the FUCK are you!?

You said at 10:30
after the news but
you ditched me...

You flash across my
screen in bold typed
numbers and letters

04

06

10

32

48

and the Powerball is...

06

I don't bother crumpling
the ticket anymore,
I just dig inside to see
if I had any, to see if
I could have been close.

Nothing...oh wait there's a 10
so I check it all again.

Screen goes black as I
shut it down, heading for
bed I wonder why

I don't drink as much
as I used to.
