These thoughts emerged (while I sat in the crematorium waiting for the rest of the family), as if prompted by the deceased.

The last time I heard your voice
Saw your face
Was
When
You sat holding my hand
Tears filling your eyes
A grimace for a smile
Trying hard to be brave for me...
I saw all this
Unable to utter a word
Please understand
I appreciate your efforts to comfort me
It was hard to watch
Understand and feel
Yet not able to speak
To look deeply into your heart
Through your large dark pool-like eyes
The path to your
Loving
Compassionate
Caring heart...
Today from a distance yet ever close
I want you to know
I love you...
even...
now...

Wow...I have to read that again.
This took me right back to caring for my Grandmother after a series of strokes...she held on for months. She was so strong... well, or afraid to move on. She was the center of our family. I miss her so much, thank you for this, it is a gift. Now I'm crying!!!
( this is damn good.)
Brightest Blessings, Shell

Grippingly sad and sometimes the only thing we can do and others can do for us is smiply be there. Eyes really are windows into the soul. This proves it. Fantastic emotions displayed.

Thank you,
Teresa Emilie

I have wondered whether this is what things are like on the other side... guess we'll all find out eventually. (agree with Jacqueline, beautiful and sad.)
