Katydid, this was absolutely splendid. Robert Frost would be proud. And he is my all time favorite poet. Poems like these really take me away. Let me quote to you one of his poems that you might have read.
The Pasture by Robert Frost
I'm going out to clean the pasture spring;
I'll only stop to rake the leaves away
(And wait to watch the water clear, I may):
I sha'n't be gone long.--You come too.
I'm going out to fetch the little calf
That's standing by the mother. It's so young
It totters when she licks it with her tongue.
I sha'n't be gone long.--You come too.
Katydid, for me, you have presented a pure moment of poetic synergy. I guess you really DID didn't you? |

Dear Katy, This is absolutely beautiful and the imagery, mesmerising.You have written it in a style that I love..gentle, lilting, conversational and with subtle rhyme. Our heads were in similar places yesterday:)

I love going back like this. and it is true it was "bigger then" everything seems so much smaller now then how we remember it. but the kicker was the last stanza. God I cant believe how good that was
"I've always loved it here
All by myself.
It's just as lovely being with a friend." Magnificient. I was there. |

| As a boy, frogs meant fireworks and the two didn't mix, but I do believe if we were to go down to the brook today, I could resist the temptation, of at least the frog. Love ya, |

| Enchanting and deceptively simple. Its simplicity, its images of nature and its seductive tone make this poetic invitation impossible to resist at any level. |
