Friendships are the lifeblood of our extended family.

If a whoosh of circumstances
would, perchance, bring us together,
I'd wish for a grand day's weather--
neither too hot or cold--
and a swing on the porch.
My heart, strangely aflutter,
calms when we meet each other.

While exchanging joys, miseries,
we'd impart some of our living.
Friends pluck heartstrings by giving.
On your shoulder I'd cry,
letting my sorrows flow . . .
then, in a switch of fare,
we'd laugh without a care.

Sharing feelings is a joy, treat,
one tends to damn up things inside
when emotions are thrust aside.
The thought's quite exciting
sharing with another being
all my dreams and aspirations--
some, perhaps, your inspiration.

Just like Little Red Riding Hood,
there's a wolf who is stalking me
and only your love sets me free.
You don't try to change me
and never raise your hand,
tear my clothes, break my heart,
swearing I am dumb . . . you're smart.

Like a child seeking acceptance,
a day with you would bring me glee.
Knowing my faults . . . still loving me
just as I love you friend.
Don't like playing pretend
because someone says, 'do'.
I cherish time with you.

Not having to watch what I say,
jokes, stories, laughs and tears we'd share.
In your arms, I don't have a care.
I feel warm and quite safe--
knowing you'd not hurt me,
tease me, push me away.
Wish I could find a way

to share my life each day.
