Many friends have come and gone,
(and all of them I love,)
but one so dear,(a soul of cheer)
I must now tell you of.
Her name is simply, 'Betty,'
so charming and so wise,
petite and sweet,
with dancing feet,
and sparkling pale blue eyes.
She hasn't got a mean bone in,
she's always there for kith and kin,
her heart so gentle ,soft and true ,
(she is an angel through and through.)
Oh what surprise, a gift she brought,
from her garden, where she sought,
a bunch of roses, (what delight!)
with sunset colours, pink and bright.
I think perhaps she never knew,
how great her gift would be,
for nothing in my life's so dear,
as flowers...picked...for me.
I have been spoiled so many times,
by friends who've sent me flowers,
and many gifts have come my way,
to brighten up my hours.
However, there has 'NEVER' been
a wealth so rich to see,
than blossoms ('HAND PICKED,')
from a friend,
especially...for me.
And so, Tonight,
whilst I'm alone,
and pensive in this room,
I soak their beauty,
basking in, each and every bloom.
I guess the petals soon will drop,
then no one else will know,
the peace and beauty I beheld,
as they beguiled my soul.
Oh Betty, such a cheerful deed,
has reached me through and through,
no words I write,
express the sight,
of flowers picked by you.
As time goes by,
friends may part,
for nothing stays the same,
but always...
will these hand picked flowers,
in this glad heart...remain.

Kay, this is so very touching and romantic.
The thought behind a gift is so important. I know the pedals of the flowers pick by Betty will fall forever; leaving comfort and joy from a dear friend forever. Bill Murray
