i wander ash-covered streets
and don't see another living soul
am i the only one left
as awful, unending silence tolls

the smokey, dust coated air
makes it very difficult to breathe
i wander ash-covered streets
inside my heart, sorrow starts to wreathe

why did my friends have to die
understand, i'm no better than them
i wander ash-covered streets
of a city deserted, condemned

i had gone to work that day
just like i had always done before
ash-covered buildings and streets
lie broken...damaged...i'm heartsore

buildings emerge through the haze
the poisoned, thickened air starts to clear
and silent, ash-covered streets
catches the dust mingled with my tears

someone calls in the distance
is there anyone alive out there
help comes to ash-covered streets
two firemen tend to me with care

it's been almost two years now
since that awful september morning
i still see ash-covered streets
when my life was changed without warning

Yes, it was a day of ash-covered streets and you wrote it well. It is a pity that America seems to have just forgotten what happened to their country on that infamous day.
