if i was a rock
would i be made a' stone?
would my heart
still feel so alone?

if i was stone
what would i be?

a heart so cold?
a soul grown old?

a memory
of who i used ta' be?

covered in slime.
covered in mold.
lost in time.
just a stone.
bare ta' the bone.

well, i ain't rock.
& i ain't stone.
still i feel
all alone.
bare ta' the bone
& growin' old.

just a heart & soul
that's been sold.

an old man's story
that's been told.
an old man's worry
'bout feelin' so cold.

still i try
ta' take a 'hold
of the slime & the time & my life's rhyme
findin' a rythmn
as it is given
findin' a song
that ain't been told

tryin' not ta' feel so cold
nor so old
nor so bold

tryin' not ta' be
a rock
you see
nor a stone
bare ta' the bone

Hey Steve:

Thanks for the explanation in your e-mail! I'm so happy for you. Wonderful write. Yaknow I was only joking in my previous response. I'm so glad you're happy.
