met a fascinating young lady who works at our local wal*mart last night while waiting out some storms traversing our area here in northcentral texas.

sophie. small of build, pretty eyes of brown,
on her face a smile, never did see a frown.

works at wal*mart, a door greeter is she,
she loves her job and is as happy as can be.

had a pretty accent, asked where she originally came from,
came from algeria to america to seek peace and freedom.

had seen her there before, she smiled and said hi to us as we went by,
and she certainly was bubbly, she was certainly NOT shy!

because it was storming out, she offered us a ride home,
and she didn't want us walking in the dark back to our home.

as we waited, she told us that she was muslim and was proud of her muslim faith,
and unlike what people thought, most muslims aren't full of hate or wraith.

she said it was a peaceful religion, told us of the q'uran and more,
and when we asked questions, the answers she brought to the fore.

she explained them in a way we could easily understand,
and we were delighted, and our religious differences would soon disband.

said she'd pray to allah for karla and i,
and told her we'd pray for her to god, each day that went by.

she accepted us, and we became friends,
and i hope our newly found friendship never does end!

*can't wait to see our new friend again the next time we go to wal*mart! :D

Wonderful poem, Karen. New friends are wonderful and it nice to reiterate the fact that the Muslim faith, itself, is not bad and not what some crazed terrorists try to make us believe.

Touching karen, real touching. Yes it is best that we don't profile. It's best to treat people as individuals and not treat them according to their group. hugs G
