Was it all a game to you
the chase, the tease
Long nights of doing what
you please
Wrapped around your finger
swearing love
as my prize
Promises made were dashed
which really shouldn't
have come as a
surprise
My trust, my heart, my love
I laid at your feet
thinking they were safe
in your keep
You knew my heart was fragile
that my fear of love
was strong
You drew me in like a moth to a flame
Assurances of never hurting
the one that you love
so who is to blame
One backs away saying he made a mistake
laying waste to the trust
that I thought
we had made
With a stiff upper lip I accept his plea
voicing understanding
when all I want to do
is flee
To fall off this earth in disgrace
each breath like a dagger
tears like razors
that streak
my face
I lost a big part of myself when you left
a void so great I can't seem to fill
my heart feels violated
as if this was a
theft
Your life continues on without a thought
of how my life has stopped
of long days and
lonely nights
grieving for the love
that I lost
You'll never know the joy that you lost
never again feel my touch
nor hear the gentle whisper
of your name from my lips
was it worth
the cost?

This is so good much beyond any words I could give it as a review. Great, excellent, superb! Such heartfelt emotion lay within this one poem and I can feel the meaning as clearly as I can my very own work. You have a way with words!
