Maiden Of The Tower

Here is a two parter, a tale of love and longing, by myself and Tom Hutchinson aka Wildthing

From a distant breeze is heard a sullen voice
Twas a maiden in distress
I climbed upon my trusted steed
And soon was roving west
Many miles I have yet to travel
And dark forces I must overpower
For I have but one intention here
To free the maiden of the tower

Each day passes slowly
As I sit and wait
Longing for my knight to come
I dream and contemplate
My heart he will capture
As he sets it free
No longer will it waste away
So lonely and empty

My mount and I are somnolent
But we must never sleep
We are relentless in our search
For I have a promise I must keep
It’s my love for my fair maiden
That compels me to carry on
I must hurry up and find her
Before another fortnight is gone

I fear that I shall die alone
My faith is growing dim
I long to share this love inside
This feeling strong within
My heart is filled with memories
For the knight who holds the key
I pray to God for his return
And beg he'll set me free

Although we have never, ever met
Our hearts know each other’s intimately
To be in the arms of the woman I love
A place I have always longed to be
Upon the horizon I see your castle
But the Black Knight stands in my way
I must conquer this evil demon first
Before we two can ride away

I trust in your fearless saber
And you'll fight till his demise
Then gather up your maiden
And we'll gallop towards the skies
Happiness that was elusive
Now lies before our eyes
The taste of destiny
Now sweetens all my cries

Only the Black Knight stood between us
It was a fight until the death
And I will not be satisfied
Until he takes his final breath
Alas I plunged my sword into his heart
No more will he make others cower
As I rode away I took with me
The maiden of the tower
