Dawn’s glory reaches for me,
But I only see,
Strange hues in the sky-
The hawk screams his haunting cry,
Seeking to feast,
On the lesser beasts…
The tiny sparrows circle over me,
Singing their morning greetings,
But I am deaf to their meaning,
Do not listen to their song,
Feeling something in me,
So wrong…
The wind rises,
Trying to signify,
But I can only sigh,
And look away,
The glory of the day,
Burning my eyes,
The intense blue of the sky,
Making me feel as if I want to cry…
Too much beauty for me,
I cannot bear it,
Can’t seem to see,
What it is suppose to mean…
But the dawn doesn’t care,
How I feel today,
And the golden rays of the sun,
Is filling my heart with warmth,
And before the morning is done,
Dawn’s blazing glory reaches for me,
Trying to make me see,
The world as it was made to be,
Beautiful and so serene…
The winds bear the world’s news,
And chases away the blues…
Chasing away my thoughts of you,
And all the things you do-
The golden poppies sway in the breeze,
And the squirrels chatter and tease,
As I walk along scattering their food,
Their scolding lightens my mood…
The world at dawn,
A thing of such beauty,
I find my sadness is gone,
As the new day arises,
I am filled with surprise,
To find my heart full of hope once more,
The morning breeze giving me the love I seek,
And I no longer feel so weak…
All the world lies sleeping,
As I walk in this new day,
Loving how the dawn’s glory,
Makes me feel today-

A wonderful poem full of real emotion and real truth! This is fine, fine work, Reindeer!
"Too much beauty for me,
I cannot bear it"
Such a very vulnerable and HUMAN observation, an small, grudging admission of the chaos that lurks within, even in the face of beauty! Fantastic! |
