tonight i have no poetry
you see

my son tryed to call me
and i wasn't there
i wasn't where
i needed to be

he's in jail
get's 1 call a week
he called
and i wasn't there
even to speak

so he got an answering machine
how mean

i didn't know he wanted to call
not me
you see
or i would a' been here
to say hey son hello
but hell no

he just got my machine
how mean
how lean

so now i cry
and i sgh
and wonder why
wasn't i there when he called
after all'ed
he & i been thru
an answering machine just won't do

so i am sad
i am his dad
i wished i'd of known
he was gonna' call
afterall
i love him
he's my son
he's just a son of a gun

But this is poetry. Go now to see him, immediately. Be there, now!
Best of luck!

Good flow and rhythm, Steve. You seem to have a knack for just letting it flow easily. Good write.
