The eve of our 5th Wedding Anniversary

Oft' by unexpected gifts
is God's guidance confirmed to me.
Yet, for all my blessed moments known
I never thought I would see,
at the summit of my bleakest night
by shadowed paths through soul,
this awesome, emerald Northern Light
foretell my fortunes flow.

Due North through skies crystal clear
o'er the snowy land,
palpating my anticipation. . .
so slowly she began.

Was it my imagination,
or was she truly there?
Had the polar electro-prism
caught a solar flare?

I stared and strained hedging hope,
I barely dared to breath;
so closely was the mega-drama
reflecting into me.

Then, as a midnight ocean ripples
blackest as waves crest,
the sky rolled in her aqua rainbow--
titanic arches luminous,
with a vital pulse that paced my heart
resounding through my soul.
Her glowing grew to dizzie heights
that dwarfed my "self" control.

As she peaked a streak thrust through
impelling gasps of awe--
a piercing sword directive of
my total trust in God.

wonderful tribute to the northern lights; they are awesome! i have seen them a few times (four to be exact; twice here in texas, and twice in my former home in ohio). incredible experience! :D (((HUGS))) and love, your friend, karen lynn. but you need a pic of the northern lights to go with this poem; that would make it even better!

Awesome. At least I'm awed. Is there a touch of Robert Service influence here? No matter. It is good stuff.
