Free Will

Drawn from heaven, cursed of hell
thy will be thine alone…
For no man has the power to sway
each choice is ours to own.

Let winds enfold or rains befall
‘neath shadow darkened veil…
For courage has the strength to stand
through torment to prevail.

No tongue can cut the meat from bone
to pierce the soul inside…
Though sorrows surely swell the eyes
with tears a raging tide.

While in between the sun and moon
these minutes do unfold…
Each breath is ours to purpose find
‘till death doth leave us cold.

A fragile thing the body worn
yet deep within lies soul…
Time will the outer canvas shed
though spirit we control.

‘Tis moments we must meet with eyes
that find a way to cope…
For living’s merely tragedy
if left without a hope.
