Sunday's morning sun arose.
I sprang quickly to my toes,
pulled the shades, went back to sleep,
but a serpent crept in . . . Creep!
He slithered and slathered 'round--
tongue flicking, tail rattling.
That snake was a piece of slime--
he lay 'shedding' all the time!
Felt him wobble like a hose
(where he went was under clothes;
took delight in his apple
before knowing it was wrong.
He laid me with the garbage
because I had no courage.
Obviously used, abused,
looked for my name on the news.
Then, I opened my eyes to
rise with Sunday's morning sun.
