A poem about a very sweet and sexy guy who's helped me in many ways.

you are that guy
the guy i used to look at
when i was sixteen
and tremble

you have that face
the one that on an inhale
the lips part
and the brow lowers
and maybe if i was lucky
a big strong hand
would rub its bristly chin

you have those arms
like the ones that wrapped
around my shoulders
when i won
and mussed my hair
like a daughter
but i didn't want to be
the daughter

so in my twenties
when i was first able to keep pace
though i'd have to run to do it
i hiked up my skirt
and did up my hair
and smiled that smile at you
and it worked
for a little while anyway

so i gained a little weight
and lifted some weights
birthed a baby
got divorced
got remarried
got separated
got a clue

and then
i finally got your attention
for real

The art inspired by the same guy as this poem is available as a poster for a limired time.

Felt the exact same way about a man when I was in my 40s. Thank you for your encouragement and the spirit of freshness when dealing with the stagnant aroma of life that occurs for people of color so often--unfair, yes--necessary to overcome these with fragrant words of spiritual wisdom--that is your gift. Keep giving it back to all you witness to in muse.
