Print Save Become a Fan
Frozen in time,
The working woman,
Running from the scene,
Her face covered in grey ash…
The children holding up pictures,
Has anyone seen my mommy…?
The husbands and wives,
The daughters and sons,
Looking for answers,
And finding none…
It is the images that haunt me,
The sound of the building falling,
The reading of the dead,
I still hear today…
The fire trucks and ambulances,
Covered in rubble,
Heroes come to save,
Now lying in a common grave…
A flag raised by brave men,
A song that we all remember,
A skyline that burned black for days,
A Thousand heroes
That will always remain unnamed…
What do I think of,
When I remember that day…?
The images of sorrow,
A nation in disbelief,
A rally of the American spirit-
That still exists today…

|(((o, reindeer *tears*)))
too many images of that day are forever burned on my memory...the planes hitting...the bursts of smoke and flame...people jumping--do they stay and burn or step into empty space--what choice were they given??...the pentagon on fire...hearing reports of another plane crash in pennsylvania...seeing the towers--first one, then the other--collapsing...the evil pyroclastic dust cloud stalking the manhattan streets...hearing the beeping of location devices firefighters and other rescue personnel wore--the only sound you heard...seeing the looks of horror on ash covered faces *tears* never to be forgotten
outstanding tribute and write--you capture it perfectly
i will always remember...believe it
