You sit before me.
And start to talk.
Your face reflexes expressions.
My eyes are on your face.

I hear your words.
In my mind I say,
"Oh dear, I love you."
But I pronounce it not.

Then you want a favor.
You produce a letter.
And explain him.
"I love him", you conclude.

I keep my eyes cool.
I'll never allow them to cheat me.
You want my help.
Because he is my friend.

Then I accept the letter.
I give word.
You say, "thank you."
Then you leave.

******************

We sit together.
You sip your cup of coffee.
Then you ask.
"Did you see him?"

I keep mum for a moment.
Then I look at you.
I prepare...
And I spell, "I love you".

You blink at me.
Then you burst into laugh.
"You funny", you say.
"No, I am serious..."

Then you stare at me.
I see angry in your eyes.
Your face becomes dark.
I see hatred on your face.

"I thought you were a good friend.
But you, you weren't.
You did all for me for this.
You wanted my flesh..."

You agitate by anger.
I am shocked and stunned.
Then I hear your words.
"I hate you, I hate you..."

No, I can't bear it.
I can't even think about it.
So I won't pronounce my love.
I'll never do it.
Because I love you.

*******************

I tear your letter,
I begin to hate him,
I tear his photos,
I curse him.

You come to me
You want to know about him
"I didn't see him"
I lie simply.

Everyday you repeat your asking,
I repeat my lying,
It continues for weeks.
Then you stop asking.

Then I notice you,
You have become like a ghost
Your eyes have become dark.
You suffer a lot.

Your smile has vanished,
Your charming and beauty have died.
You suffer a lot.
No, I can't bear it.

I can't be the reason of your suffering;
I can't see you suffer.
So I won't tear your letter.
I'll never do it.
Because I love you.
**************************
I go to him,
And I give your letter.
I explain all.
My love too.

He is my bosom friend.
So he gives word.
Then he approaches you.
He reveals my love.

He is not ready to love you.
Then you feel you are cheated.
Of course I am the cheater.
Then you begin to hate me.

Didn't I say that I couldn't bear it?
I can't even think about it.
So I won't do this.
I will never do this.
Because I love you.
**************************
I give him your letter.
I tell about you.
I compel him to replay.
And I arrange a meeting.

You meet at my home.
You talk a lot.
He falls in love with you.
Then he hugs me.

But I am not content,
I compel you both to marry soon.
I arrange all things.
I bless you both.

I buy two air-tickets for you.
"Go to Paris, and enjoy".
You both embrace me.
I return with a calm heart.

Who won in this?
You won him.
He won a beautiful life.
I got the comfort that you are happy.
Still why do I feel I lose...?

At home I burst in to tears.
I feel I am alone.
But somewhere in my mind.
There is your smile lights my life.

Yes, I will do these.
Because I love you.

*************

I know, I know.
The smile will fade away.
The glance and care will end.
The warmth of fondness will die.
The presence of love too.

The tears will come instead.
Still I am going to go to him.
Oh dear, I am going,
Without saying my love.
Farewell,
I am leaving.

****************

I love you very much dear.
But you will never understand it.
Because I'll never tell it.
It will be in grave with me.
Until then I'll be in love with you.

This is very sad, David. Unfortunately, it is not uncommon. Thank you for sharing this offering with us. Love and peace. Regis

David:

What a cheat she is. She doesn't deserve your love so loyally. She doesn't care about you.

You are a giver of happiness, but sometimes many people just take you as a friend for their own benefits and never for a moment think about your feelings. She has no regards for your feelings. Drop her now, and find someone who returns your love 10 times more.

Wonderful write of a poem that tells a heart-wrenching poem. I believe many men had been through this at one time or another.

David, very well done. Carrying one's heart on his sleeve is a very difficult accomplishment. Your poem is very much like my, " From Afar " but at least you know that they truly love each other. in my poem the love was one sided. I really know how it is to love someone from afar. Wonderful poem and many blessings.
