My Cowboy

Written for a poetry contest. My "cowboy" got married on August 18.

I had a wee cowboy a long time ago
But I seem to have lost him to time
No more little cowboy to bounce on my knee
And no need for that nursery rhyme

Not only did time take my cowboy
But a lot of my youth went as well
And now, 'though I'm older and wiser
I think I'll just rest here a spell

But I guess all of this has a purpose
It's all just a part of God's plan
After all, He did replace my cowboy
With a fine and good-looking young man!
