When you loved me through the night and day,

Sleek and salty tears seldom trickled down my face.

But when you left, abruptly walked away,

Teary torrents replaced that once solitary and salty trace.

When you loved me through the night and day,

Only a lone, linear line marked a previously battered and broken heart.

But when you left, abruptly walked away,

Shattered, small slivers became my core, with no obviously separate part.

When you loved me through the night and day,

Flight’s fine and feathery wings lifted my hopes to soaring heights.

But when you left, abruptly walked away,

Desire was doomed, damned to never again experience heavenly sights.

This is great! Sad, but a great write nonetheless. The rhyme scheme is very good and the piece is heartfelt. Good job.
