Standing tall she spied
the airplanes in the sky.
When they dove, she gasped and cried . . .
tears cascading from each eye.
She never kneeled and wouldn’t yield--
by her torch saw angels in the field.

Terrorists snuck in
(hi-jacking innocents
to a horrendous end);
they were unholy agents.
Our flag never swayed in New York . . .
rescuers sprang that moment to work.

Unable to move
she offered a prayer
for the many she behooved
whose lives were lost as she stared.
Saw in her red eyes white and blue . . .
that she’d stand there for’er, see us through.

She’d pierce with her crown,
alight with her fire
any terrorists around--
(she was a gift, can’t buy her)!
September eleventh passed
but those moments will forever last!

When liberty cried
and the innocent died.

Sandra, And she still stands strong and proud. And the memories of that day will never be forgotten, we can't afford for them too. A wonderful tribute. Lisa
