je reve encore de toi
how 'bout some prose?

of all days to have a birthday
so you opt to remember, rather
i try to cross long-distance lines
to only find you're out of service
but what does it matter now,
as all my role-models are dead--
poets, novelists, christ-like
figures, dear cash,
announced this morning on the
radio, by some m.i.t. deejay,
in case you haven't heard, last
night had passed--
and in allston, we'd followed behind
an suv with a sticker bearing
the exact same namesake,
we did not know yet, simply spared
for several hours...
the sullen fact that i had never
seen him, crossed my mind
and then a thought i'd not considered
came to light, a colleague mentioned,
considerately, that at least he and
june would be together again--
and i smiled, to keep a dam
against those tears, of those we lost
and those still here...
