I’ve got to move on,
Pull myself up out of
The steamy, moss-covered swamp
Of our relationship…

I am tired of playing hide-n-seek,
Ring-around-the-rosie,
And hoodman’s bluff with you.
Can’t you see that I am growing brittle,
And like bones that cannot bend,
I am more fragile than the finest silk.

Crossing over, walking on the stench
Of the rotting vegetation,
Drifting over bodies bloated and floating…
These emotions are out of control.

You come and go, like I am nothing
To you, nothing but a shoulder to cry upon when
Things get tough…
So cry, go ahead and cry…
But you can’t do it here any longer.
I’m crossing over--I’m moving on.
