*Dark Poetry*

In a place without honor and everlasting sin,
We created a world to live in,
You and I...
Where you sought to give me a reason,
To stop wanting to die.

Dark Knight and his Red Queen...
Living a life few have ever seen,
He walks through the world like a king-
This gladiator who fights his battles in the ring...

And I,
I merely hold the crown...

I wish I could have realized,
Before it was all said and done,
The thing we gave birth to,
Would also be Your Son...

I Tried!
I tried to shape him,
I tried to mold him to my soul,
Dear God,
How was I too know-
The Evil in you would show...
Would manifest itself in everything you touched,
Even me-

Why couldn't I see...

His beauty would be fleeting,
His wholeness uncentered-
His soul cracked and bleeding,
Your black blood flowing in his veins...
I should have remembered,
In hell it never rains-

There would be no way to wash him clean,
Rinse the blood from his hands,
Find a pool of clear, clean water,
Baptize him...Save him from his father!

This child with an evil grin,
Smiles at me...Stares at him-
Has my heart, but his Daddy's soul,
I wish I had known,
What it was I was thinking,
When I dared to give birth...
Gave you progeny,
To spread among the Earth...

Yes, memorable writing. "In Hell it never rains" is a gem. Unsettling poem. I
hope it is not autobiographical.

Like father like son!!

I tried to shape him,
I tried to mold him to my soul,
Dear God,
How was I too know-
The Evil in you would show...
Would manifest itself in everything you touched,
Even me-

The Man Who Loved Funerals by Maryanne Raphael

The plot builds relentlessly and so well that by the end one does not know whether to laugh or cry..
