whispers ripple walls that summon me
Iím alone but secure
in this dark tomb
then shivering fearfully, unsure of my place
I slide hesitantly forward, then retreat
are dreams glimpses of the future or the past?
are they reward or warning?
have the tears on earth been cried
and will I be safe outside?
I moan in confusion
shadows, like cinders, fall
as the womb pains
my heart quickens; my pace wavers
I am
birthing
and gaze at a new world
zestful for life
hungry for a feast
I am at peace
but fear my feet
easing first toward the light
though Iím soon lifted
by soft hands that caress me
love oozes in
fear ebbs out
I am
born
