sometimes the beach
is
not what you envision
isn’t
the tide nor the sand
nor
the gull
isn’t the mist off the crest
or the sound of slapping waves
it
is the people
the throngs of jocular people
pretending that all is well
that this is where they would rather be
than
any place else in the world
building irritating sand castles with
children they show teeth to
in a make believe
smile to prove they are
having
fun
tainted me?
yes watching the fisherman shoo the children
from his line
as he attempts to rob the sea of her citizens
watching the boys point video cams
at girls
or the man with the dark glasses
stealing looks
and still I try
to close my eyes to it all
to close my heart to the sadness I feel this day
at
the beach
and find the peace I came for
the release that it stands for
and humanity
steals it from me this day
in paradise
all I can see is the pain
the suffering that is plain
as the crashing waves

I really wasn't sure what to expect from the title of this piece but it ended up being quite a nice surprise. Nice Work :)

Jose,
Once more poetess, due to your seeing eye, stayed and postured in observance, as well as your elequoent pen in hand, we are allowed to see life in picture form, due to your gift you freely extend.
Your pen increasingly impresses me of late Josefina. I find your quill as rare as your eye......that captures the scene, in vivid imagery and etched emotion standing tall.

Very well written. Interesting observations mixed with emotions. I prefer the rugged ocean rather than beaches, maybe I'm jaded but your observation of general beaches takes so much away from why i love the ocean. I need the solitude without other people. I enjoyed your write! ~Z~

As There Is Life In This Death

Rock me on your waves O’ Ocean free
Protect me from all evil from life
Protect my soul… my innermost dreams
And listen to the tender lyrics of my heart
Like a seagull… take off on lifted wings
You rock me on your wave with the frozen breath
Protect my soul… my innermost dreams
As I close my eyes… and as I drift away
I am with you my love… beside you
In your embrace as I rock these waves
You touch my dream…
And somewhere beyond this darkness
There is light… there is hope
As I roll with the ocean tides
You’re within my most intimate dreams
As a gentle breeze caresses my face
Deep inside my heart
It burns like a flame
I throw my heart at your mercy
Into the darkness of the ocean of silence
Without resistance or regret
To rock me and protect my soul
Imagine that moment of joy…
As there is life in this death
As my love will be buried deep inside

love Tinka

I only see beauty in the ocean waves. Nevertheless, this is why we are here. To share! Well done.

There are many ways to perceive
the movements of the waves.

Some perceive them as gentle
and they find serenity

Some perceive them as aggressive
and they find anger and frustration

Some perceive them as strives
as they find advancement in lives.

However we perceive the waves to be
one thing for sure is that the waves...

They continue on to move forward
no matter how difficult it may seem.
