I have but only
one pair of shoes.

They have no high heels
are not feminine even.
But they fit on easily
and tie tight around my feet.

I wouldn’t trade them
for any old glass slippers
that only tell lies in the reflection
of the feet,
the woman who wears them.

Like school is intended for learning
and not for making friends or playing games

shoes are intended to wear,
to wear out
to the point that comfort and love
share a thin line.

They are not intended to provide security,
make a statement,
or to clog up
the closet of one’s mind
or my conversations with you.

I don’t give a damn how many pairs you have.

Practical and stylish! this is a nice sentiment on abandoning the petty purposes for this falls fashions!

Clog up the closet of ones mind, good usage of a metaphor. Consistent!

unfortunately for me, high heel shoes are a required uniform.
