Silhouettes

Silhouettes of clothes
Hanging on a rack
Reminders of you!
Your essence is everywhere
Your aroma still wafts upon the air
Faint, bearly there.
Thoughts of you, things we used to do
My loneliness, so hard to bear

Trying to start my life anew
without you
Aching through and through
Yet this I must do!
I will continue my journey
Life moves on, with or without us
vigorous in its thrust
Relentless, in seeking its purpose

Your face a vision in my mind
Soft and smiling, so kind
Scenes from yesterdays
Sounds of us at play
Songs and laughter
I still hear.
Priceless memories!
I'll always love you, my dear

Life continues this day
As sunlight streams through my window
Beauty to behold as a new day unfolds
I am humbled, blessed and glad
To have had, "our time",
those, "Together with you, times"
I carry your cherished memory
Deep within this soul of mine

I open the window
Inhaling fresh air,
Breathing deeply, humming softly.
I am grateful and hopeful
Yea, eager, for this new day
For its treasures, its pleasures,
Its adventures that await me.
For experiences that are, "yet to be"

I go forth to create and appreciate
To meet and enjoy new people
To savor the beauty of earth's scenery,
Of blue skies and mighty seas,
Of simple pleasures and simple measures.
Each blade of grass a mystery!
For I must sing and sigh or cry,
In harmony with life's melody.
