written as a teen.. remix/repost

Yes
You were the Master.
I was your horse.
It was your job to tame me.
No matter what the cost.
You stood with your saddle..
tightly in hand.
You tried to place it on my back ... but I ran.
I knew you wanted to break me.
Wanted me to follow in your tracks.
But there was NO way
you were ever going to get that
sattle on my unbroken back.
I know you have broken many..
I have seen their tattered lives.
I have seen your smile
like a trophy you won
filled with pride.
But you didn't break me..
Not that you didn't try.
I was determined to stay strong ...
that is how I survived.
Mother and Daughter..
A war we had..
from the day I was born.
now the war is over ..
Memories are all torn..
The fighting is done now..
I think we both have lost
Now I ask this question
What did this victory cost?
