Playful conquest

Who ever thought,
That I would get so much of you!
After all, you
pledged me your troth
in front of God
and everybody.

There was a time when you
begrudged me a shot of
your precious hair spray.

"We'll get you your own,"
you frowned.
I banged at your thick oak door.
Threw daisies in your moat.
Mounted your walls
Changed your channel.

I mussed your hair

Played a tambourine in

Your sanctuary.

I desire no prisoner but you.
You may keep your sacred
but now you share
the toiletries, groceries,
checkbook, and plastic with me.
Pillaging your castle
has been a blast,
not a hostile takeover,
but a benign invasion
and I'll scoot my swivel rocker up next
to your recliner and
we'll rule the world from there.
I think I'm happy,
I think it's enough.
I'll let you know...

That ice cream in your bowl

Looks inviting,

May I have a bite?
Better yet,
How 'bout if I
sit in your lap and
spoon you some?

By the way, you may need
To pick up some more

Hair spray tomorrow…
