Silently

my dream last night....

She closes the door silently..
Tiptoes  up the stairs
so her parents will never know..
She heard the harsh whispers..
The bump..
Then a groan..
So she opened the bedroom door to find..
Daddy's hands around Mommys throat.
Daddys face red with rage..
Mommys white as snow..
Pleading with her eyes..
to let her go.
The girl wants to run..
Wants to attack this man she adores so..
She knows he is killing her mothers spirit..
She sees her mother change everyday..
Once fun and free loving..
Now alone and afraid.
This young  girl wonders..
How does she love the man
who imprisons her mothers soul..
Who strikes fear with his hand
How can she be a daughter?
How can she love them both?
So she closes the door silently..
She listens in the still of the night..
Wondering if in the morning..
her mother will still be alive..
Wondering if in the morning..
the love she feels for her father
will die.
Silently waiting..
With wide teary eyes..
Praying to her God..
To help them please..
Help make them into the family
they once use to be..
Please give her back her old Mommy ..
The one with the free spirit...
laughter, love, and dignity.. .
   Until then she waits silently..
       Pretending she doesn't see......

At the mercy of destiny.....
