"Kodachrome Eyes"

She has Kodachrome eyes
that rival the clarity of amber
Her iris radiates within the fires
that burn into my longing soul
She turns aching inside out
with a fire engine’s blaring
through corridors of inspiration
while leaving me bewildered
fastened against the wall in awe

Her eyes are hazelnut almonds
reminiscent of twin galaxies
zooming in on emerald earth
and I am swept out into her sea
with a feeling of helplessness
against the currents of romance
while I am a shell upon the floor
flotsam carried by indigo waves
far off into her secret chambers
somewhere on another shore
on the other side of midnight

Her long dark brown hair curls
cascading on slender shoulders
and framing her porcelain face
like a waterfall in September
She has perfected her beauty
with a promise upon her lips
ripe with the taste of cherries
sweet with a nectar of smiles
that she brings to the table
at a banquet of innocent tears
and then before anyone notices
slips gracefully into my arms
leaning back upon my body
bare on my Chihuahua chest
as she recaptures my heart
with a poetry book of sighs
